One of the favorite recreational sites at the Alisal is our private, 100-acre, spring-fed lake. Tucked away in the foothills, this shimmering jewel is a tranquil setting for fishing, boating, and bird watching. Some guests like it best for an afternoon of leisurely sunning or picnicking.  The Alisal lake is teeming with bass and bluegill ready to be landed by rod and reel
or fly. We offer private guided excursions during early morning or late evening hours, since feeding habits of different fish vary. If you wish to hone your angling skills, our lake staff is glad to provide traditional fishing and fly fishing pointers or lessons. Our private fleet of boats includes kayaks, sailboats, canoes, bass boats, electric trolling boats and pedal boats.
The Alisal is blessed with an abundance of wildlife. Enjoy it on one of our guided nature walks. Equipped with a sighting lens and Alisal Field Guidebook, your guide will take you around the southern edge of the lake, on a trail rich with flora and fauna. Thriving with a variety of birds, deer, and wildlife, nature walks are favorites with photographers.
Fishing on Alisal Lake is reserved for guests of the ranch exclusively. All bass are natural spawn wild fish and fishing is "catch and release." This combination keeps the lake and the fish unstressed and provides some of the best bass fishing in the state. Equipment

Guided Fishing Take advantage of our guide's knowledge of fishing and learn about their habitat. Jason Grupp, our Orvis endorsed guide, will take you out on the bass boat and help you track down fish using traditional spinning tackle or fly fishing gear. If you are a beginner you will be taught how to tie knots, how to cast, what tackle touse, as well as fish identification,handling and the proper releasing method. Naturally we want you to return to shore after successfully catching fish! All ages and skill levels are welcome. Jason Grupp, our Orvis endorsed guide, will give you a demonstrations of the gear and will work with you on the mechanics of casting. He will take you out on the bass boat to give you some basics on fish habitat and what to look for and why. While out on the water you will spend some time trying to catch bass. After the lesson you will have gained the confidence to go out on our 100-acre lake and apply the skills you have learned.
Archery
Introduce yourself , with the help Dale Combs, a NFAA instructor, to the ageless art of shooting an arrow from a simple bow at a target. If you are ten and older you may take up the bow and arrow, or fine tune your marksmanship, under the skilled guidance, amidst the backdrop of the shimmering lakeshore and giant White Oaks.
Archery: $30/per person Air Rifle
Air rifles at Alisal lake! Come up to the new air rifle course and enjoy this fully supervised sport. Dale Combs, the NRA range safety officer, will show you the fun, safe way to enjoy the new sport. The course includes paper targets, silhouette targets and gravity fall targets at 10, 15 and 20 meters. Learn the way to handle, sight and shoot and gain more confidence in yourself, all in the beautiful lake setting.
Air Rifle: $35/ per person
Our sparkling 100-acre spring-fed lake offers excellent boating and fishing. Here, hungry bass and bluegill abound. Fishing gear and a variety of boats are all available to rent at a nominal charge. Alisal Lake has three Catalina Expo twelve and a half foot sailboats waiting for the budding sailor in you. With their arrival we are offering sailing lessons. If you've ever wanted to try sailing, here is your chance in an easy-going atmosphere. Are you already an experienced sailor? Then come out and enjoy our beautiful afternoon breezes. Lessons are available. Bass Boat is priced at half day and full day. Other prices are for 90 minutes and full day.
